Chameleon by FreedomSparrow3 Chameleon by FreedomSparrow3
Finished at last. I've lost count of how many hours I've spent on this... T_T but I just hope it lives up to the gorgeous picture found here: [link] by :iconblepharopsis:

I'm not sure if I'll make a background at all. It really all depends on if I have the time before the scholarship entries are due. I have another piece that I need to start... a tiger. =) I have a theme working for all three entires: Smooth, scaly, and furry. My first piece is an orca piece that I previously finished, this one, and a tiger entry that I'll be starting momentarily. This is really big for me for college, 1st place is a $20,000 scholarship! *crosses fingers*

Thanks for looking! :)

I like the look of the black outlines in combination with these bright colors. Think, you first did the color and afterwards the outlines? A WIP would have been very interesting :hexentanz:

It was a mix of both. The outlines started as a subtle white, then when I did the color I went over it in black.

It looks perfect the way it is!!! I have been studying it before I commented and each indidual scale has its own color! This must off took sooo long, but it was very rewarding. What kind of colored pencils did you use? I have to say you did an outstanding job. This is going into my faves!!!

Omg it's ugly but a freakin beautiful drawing ! I was like this has to be a photo but hovered my mouse and it said traditional and was like WHOA. I'm kinda like 1 year late but like how did that scholarship go? =o... i think this had such a high chance ~ I'm so in awe now.. makes me want to try harder in coloured drawings :) Thanks for the inspiration ^^ By the way was this draw on A3?

Ugly? I love chameleons, and I think they are incredible animals.

Scholarship wise I won fifth place and earned $10,000 for four years.

The paper itself is Canson colored paper... I don't know sizes like A3 or A4 but it's like 28 x 34 or something like that. I'm not sure exactly. :)

Hahaha yes.. I'd squirm if a chameleon sat on my desk right now D= but your drawing is so beautiful .. maybe I wouldn't mind too much :)

Wow congrats on the money (a tad late but ya know). I can't imagine what first place was... this is freakin good enuf !

Ahh the drawing is just over A4.. amazing ! The amount of detail is hard to get around to..

Yea, Prismacolor pencils. They are... I would say the most common professional colored pencil choice. I live by them, they blend amazingly. =)
